If Hygienists Could Eliminate One Task, What Would They Choose?

Nearly half of hygienists said they'd eliminate perio charting if they could.

Now, of course, we can't. Perio charting is an essential part of patient care.

But the results point to something important. If almost half of hygienists would choose to eliminate the same task, we should be looking for ways to make it easier. The second most common response was the periodic exam. Unlike perio charting, though, that's something many practices can improve today. Not by eliminating the exam—but by eliminating the time hygienists spend waiting for and being present during it.
